Paint-20 McKeage oil on board Description:
This oil on canvas was painted by Edna McKeage and
displayed with the Greenwich Village Artist Colony at the
Chicago World's Fair in 1933. McKeage worked in
Illinois, while this cottage scene has a very European
look. McKeage is one of those artists listed in several references, including Davenport's and Who Was Who Among American Artists (and the 1925 edition of Who's Who), and yet there's little information. She lived in Illinois (evidently Chicago and Cicero at different times), belonged to the No-jury Society of Artists. Based on this painting, she evidently belonged to the Greenwich Village Artist Colony, but that's not listed anywhere. Dimensions: Frame about 18 3/4" x 15 Interior: about 15" x 11 3/4". Special Notes: The label is probably a Charles Turzak design. The Greenwich Village Artist Colony display at the fair appears to have had several artists from Illinois and Wisconsin. This may be because the GVAC roots trace partly to Peoria-born artist Fritz Treibel, but information is rather sketchy, interesting but sketchy. Condition: excellent with no damage and no repairs. Of course, all our sales are fully guaranteed. Price: $395 plus
shipping and insurance.
Shipping: will vary depending on location. Send us your ZIP, and we'll work out a quote. International shipping rates by request. The code is at the beginning of each listing and is usually two letters followed by a number. We'll confirm that the item
is still available, make sure we agree on the total, and
answer any We try to ship in one or two days after payment arrives, and we're generous with the bubblewrap and styrofoam peanuts. If there's something you'd like us to find for you, let us know. We're just itching to please you, or maybe that was poison ivy we got into. Remember that all proceeds go to support good causes: my spouse, our cats (see the "staff" here), our creditors, my auction addiction, and the plumbing project that never ends. |
